Kips Bay Show House 2016

Upper East Side, NYC

Construction April 2016

The prestigious kips bay shophouse takes place once a year, where designers are selected to create rooms in one month. I was the project manager for this room, and the designer was Sawyer Berson, who was in charge of this salon and the attached terrace. The garden design was a rolling landscape made of stacks of styrofoam carved and shaved like to create rolling hills, then covered with artificial turf. Holes were dug out for trees and lighting to be dropped in, to create the feeling of a Nordic forrest. For the room the designer was very set on terrazo, it took the first three weeks to finish the design, stone selection, and finish sampling from the fabricator. So we forged ahead and installed all plaster moldings, skimmed, painted, and venetian plastered the walls and the floors came in sheets that were assembled on site a week before completion. The terrazzo install occurred mere days before opening but was completed in time for a final polish before the show. The last item we made was a brass panel the designer requested for behind the paintings. The panel is brass sheets attached to mdf panels, covered in a beeswax and polished to create this look. We were very proud how the project came out and it was on the cover of the style section for the New York Times.

74th Street Pied-à-terre

Construction: November 2015 - March 2016

I worked as the project manager on this pied-à-terre with the architect Phillip Kennedy Grant. The client chose this one bedroom for it's natural light and Central Park views. The apartment was on the small side so we worked to create a space that felt spacious.
