BioMed wanted to turn this long circuitous hallway into an attraction. The budget was tight, so we used color to create the design.

In each zone, the vat floors, rubber wall base and paint were made to match exactly, so the color going up the wall would be seamless. The colors are tints and tones of the colors in the BioMed branding.

All the Places You'll Go!: NYC

All the Places You'll Go! is a children's shoe store inspired by books and the type of travel that we can do with our imaginations. The inspirations were Peter Pan, Libraries, Travel, and Curiosity Shops. The Second floor is only accessible via a staff staircase in the back. It holds back stock shoes, which are accessed via putnam ladders.

Thesis: 826BX

826BX was my thesis project at FIT. 826BX is a chapter of the 826 National tutoring, writing, and performing centers. This chapter of 826  focuses on learning by doing, specifically forms of storytelling including: writing, music, drama, and dance. The center will be located in a converted prison in the Tremont neighborhood of the South Bronx.

The top floor of 826BX, here students learn about the possibilities for their future.

The inspiration for the project was tree houses creating private spaces that the kids could use to learn and collaborate in. As well, every floor as a connecting staircase, inspired by Rapahael's School of Athens painting, the stairs act as a learning spaces connecting different age groups and disciplines.

Converting a Prison into 826BX required softening the look. Here the vestibule acts as part of the shadow factory. The floors are lit and depending on how people move they create big and small shadows.

Each 826 location has a store, it acts as an introduction of sorts to the neighborhood and acts as part of the funding for the program. Here kids can buy and make supplies for creating shadows, as well as watch kids already in the program put on shadow puppet performances.

Chelsea Lasik Center: NYC

Chelsea Lasik Center, is a medical office project I worked on at FIT. The patients interested in lasik surgery, this being a selective procedure, typically not covered by insurance, tend to be busy professionals. To meet the patients needs, the space has a residential feel, to make them feel at home. As well the space is built with desks and outlets so that users can catch up on work.

The clientele of Chelsea Lasik Center are typically busy professionals. So the reception area has built in desks with chargers for their computers and cellphones.

The operation itself is done off site. So the majority of the rooms are food eye exams and consultations between the doctor and patient.

The South Elevation walls are inspired by the geometry of the barn roofline. The pattern creates storage, with some triangles open storage, and others are doors. The Butcher and Seafood departments are located on the South Side.

The North Elevation holds the cookware, cheese shop, and dairy case.
